Biological Environment Existing pipeline: stalked sea tulips (Pyura gibbosa),
cunjevoi (Pyura stolonifera), kelp (Ecklonia
radiata) and barnacles (CEE 1997) Rocky reef at the end of the outfall: kelp and turfing algae (both red and
brown algae) and encrusting and massive sponges on the low lying areas of
rocky reef; encrusting coralline algae beneath the Ecklonia
canopy and on
rocky rubble areas Soft Sediments: typical benthic fauna of polychaete worms (mostly spionids), small amphipod crustaceans and a sparse range of other burrowing animals including nemertean and nematode worms and sipunculans. |
